When I became a new mother, I was told to cover myself while I feed my child in public. It is a natural thing for me but not accepted for another. I question why? Breastmilk is seldom discussed and seen as a taboo topic. The most important thing I wanted in this project was not to diminish motherhood and womanhood.
LIQUID GOLD is set in a speculated world and open for debate where humanmilk has successfully replaced animal's milk. This project will look at the circulation of milk and its pathway. How the world will behave when animal milk is no longer available. It crosses many aspects. For example feminism, cultural taboo, environment, animal rights, social and bio-economics. These are all issues that are relevant today which should be discussed.
With that, I have created a video and a few possible objects to complement this changed "new world" so that we can all have a glimpse of what the future can hold.
One of the goals of this project is we allow ourselves to question our assumptions regarding breastfeeding. On why some choose to accept or reject this practice in public, the normalcy of it all.
During this pandemic, we have now begun to practice and believe in a new usual. The ideas in our minds are anything but _xed and human beings are very adaptable to changes. It is about thinking beyond today. The good and bad of this new commodity can be anticipated
from various angles where we can choose which route we would like to take on or to avoid.
